The Gift of your essence
Tis the season to give
We are now entering the season of giving. In the U.S., Thanksgiving is around the corner, and it is a time to give thanks for our bounty. In December many different religions have holidays were gift giving is a part of the holiday. For many it is a time of joy and happiness, while for others it is a time of stress and feeling let down. What would you do if instead of giving presents you were only permitted to give only one aspect of yourself? What would you give in an exchange of material present? The only catch with this is you have to give it for 365 days.
Our essence is the part of us that draws people to us or repels them. It is given daily. We might not be consciously aware of it. We might have not put much importance on it. Some might have sworn they have been trying to change it, but could not master it. Each day we gift ourselves to the Universe and those who live in it. Our attitudes are what are being gifted. Look around you, and you could most likely list an army of people who attitude and beliefs do not serve you well. If it is a gift, then it is a gift of regret in receiving it. You too are guilty of doing the same thing.
Every day that you express all the ill luck, unhappiness and so on to another, you are gifting them the gift of poison. If you are doing this to more than one person, then you are spreading your disease around. This is what you are offering the world, and it is a gift appreciated by some and not by others. Those who labor over all the unjust events in their life will appreciate your gift. Actually they will even be happy to give you a gift of similar quality. Often, they will even insist their gift is worth more, since their problems far outweigh yours. I am sure we have all run into someone who must inform you that their problems are worst. The gifting of complaining, bitterness and ill thought seems to be the primary type of present people feel the need to give each day.
Back to the question if you were permitted to give only one gift that was an aspect to another, what would it be? Would you choose to gift poison or nourishment? If all the material objects disappeared, and there was nothing to purchase or make, what part of you would you give? Remember this is the gift that gives daily. What would you wish to receive from another of their presence? What gift of them would you wish to receive daily? Would it be poisoning you or nourishing you? In the end, when death comes it is never what material thing was given, it is what you gave to another from your being that will be remembered and passed on to another. My gift would be acceptance of who they are.

Renee: The simple clarity of this topic is amazing. Your question is straightforward and reaches the depths of daily life: "What would you do if instead of giving presents you were only permitted to give only one aspect of yourself?"
In my lifetime I've seen Thanksgiving relegated to the sidelines as a harbinger of Black Friday. Fortunately, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, so I treasure it for the entire weekend. That works for me. No judgment on others' view of Thanksgiving.
Your gift is a wise gift: acceptance of others.

Thank you for this gift today!
